About Noel

Hi, I’m Noel.

I am one of the pastors at Riverview Church in the Lansing, Michigan area. We have a venue in Holt and one on the campus of Michigan State University.

You can read about my faith story here.

So…why do I blog? Well, I blog for two reasons:

For Me

  • I use this blog to work out my faith publicly
  • I use this blog to combat hypocrisy in my own life

For Others

  • I use this blog as a teaching tool
  • I use this blog as a connection point

A lot of pastors I know have blogs that are just church or theology related. My goal on this site is a little bit different. I want to live my life as publicly as I comfortably can. This blog showcases my life–my doctrine, my teachings, my parenting, my friends, my passions, my pet-peeves–it’s all here. The only arenas I shy from are ones that my wife and I decide will help us live as normal a life as possible.

Lisa Eldred, who is one of the best Keynote people we have at Riv, is also a Digital Rhetoric masters student at MSU. For some odd reason, she chose to make me the focus of a project a couple years ago. Basically, it’s a study of how I use and interact with technology as part of my job. The project was so well done, I asked her if I could add it to my site. A bit of the information is outdated, but a lot of it will help you understand why I try to be as techy as I am.
