Please Pray For the Riv Pastors

2 Thessalonians 3:1 – Dear brothers and sisters, we ask you to pray for us. Pray that the Lord’s message will spread rapidly and be honored wherever it goes, just as when it came to you.
On Monday, the Riv pastors will be hiding away at an undisclosed location for our annual “Elder Evaluations and Planning Retreat.” We’ll be looking over the last year, examining each other’s lives and setting goals for the next year.
Would you set aside some time to pray for us? Better yet, consider this post a prayer wall of sorts. Just pray in the comments so we can all be praying together. I’ll try to remember to check back here a few times during the day.
Oh, and if I think of it I will Twitter specific requests so you can track those by clicking here.

It has been awesome watching the final details come together on Riv’s new building.
Every once in awhile, though, I freak out when I realize we missed something. Today I had one of those freakouts. I realized we forgot to install these on our building:

Pray for Burma

Please take a few minutes right now to pray for the country of Burma:
The death toll from a devastating cyclone that swept through Burma is 4,000 and could rise to 10,000, the country’s foreign minister said Monday.
State radio said the number of dead in the country’s low-lying Irrawaddy River delta from Saturday’s Cyclone Nargis had reached 3,939, and that almost 3,000 people in a single town there were unaccounted for.
The Parable of the Golden Screw

Just read a profound parable. Here’s the first part of the story. Click here to read the rest.
Once upon a time, a young lad was born without a belly button. In
its place was a golden screw. All the doctors told his mother that
there was nothing they could do. Like it or not, he was stuck with
it.All the years of growing up was real tough on him because all who
saw the screw made fun of him. He avoided ever leaving his house
and thus, never made any friends. One day, a mysterious stranger saw his belly and told him of a
Swami in Tibet who could get rid of the screw for him. He was
thrilled. The next day he took all of his life’s savings and bought a
ticket to Nepal…

It’s been fun to watch Jesse pitch for his team this season. He has started 3 out of 4 games, which is awesome. Here are a couple shots I took at the last game:
