Is Jesus coming back on June 7th?
May 15, 2008 Uncategorized
I am always fascinated when I read about different religious leaders predicting the end of the world. In fact, Grace and I watched a special on this the other day. Ironically, when the promised date goes by, these leaders never seem to be bothered by the fact that they were wrong and the world still spins.
Even more fascinating to me are pastors who predict when Jesus is coming back. Now, I firmly believe Jesus is coming back one day to set up his kingdom. I just don’t think we get to know when; heck, Jesus doesn’t even know when.
Why do I mention this? Because I just read online that Jesus is coming back on June 7th. It’s such a lock that the pastor predicting it writes this:
Dear readers, you have only 29 days left from the time I am concluding this study, until the coming of our Lord to rapture His people to glory. You can use this time to do those final things you think you need to do. Or, you can use this time to study, pray, fast, witness, set your spiritual house in order, and seek to draw closer to the Lord than you have ever been. The choice is yours! May God give you the grace to make the right choice. And may God have mercy on us all during the next 29 days.
I always wonder what the first church service after one of these dates passes is like for the pastor who predicts Jesus’ return.
I will say, though, how ironic it would be if he is right. Because the weekend after his predicted date is the first weekend we will be in our new building. Wouldn’t that be a hoot?

Well according to this guy, you just became a Laodiceans:
“But along with this revelation came a deep burden also, for I know that the Lord gave me this truth to be shared with His people. I also know that many of those who read this will only mock and ridicule and find fault with it. Folks, I am sick to my stomach of the mockers and scoffers today [Laodiceans] who piously claim to be “Christians,” yet who won’t even lift a finger to seriously study the prophecies of God’s Word. Nevertheless, this truth must be shared with God’s people, and put forth as a final warning to the lost.”
Then again I’m right there with you Noel as I laugh at this!

Well, to be fair, I don’t laugh at this as much as marvel at it. Again and again, these predictions are made and again and again, they are wrong. If Jesus doesn’t know when, I don’t have the audacity to assume I can figure it out.
I wish more Christ-followers would spend their energy sharing the Gospel with the lost, rather than risk their credibility on stuff like this.

After reading the whole thing, I have one point to make.
The day of the Lord will come like a thief in the night. Since the Lord is perfect, I’m sure he went to Thievery 101 and took notes on the day where they taught, “If they know when you are breaking in, don’t. You’ll most likely get caught or worse.”
So this guy can’t be right.

Here is another article from the same pastor and director of the Last Call Gospel Ministry, 3201 N. Kentucky #57, Roswell, NM 88201.

He’s got method for his theory.

I’ve had a few people now in my circle of friends come to me with “end of the world” predictions, particularly the Maya Long Count calendar that supposedly predicts The End™ in Dec. 2012. I usually just quote them the same verse from Matthew 24:36 as you have above.
However, I wouldn’t say that I as a Christian have a clear view of what the Biblical End Times will look like. I know the popular view of Pre-Tribulation Premillenialism, however I think it makes too many liberties with the Word. As I’ve looked at what I could find on the subject, it seems to me the strongest biblical position is the Preterist position.
I’d be interested in hearing a sermon in Riverview as to either what our position is or if Riv has no position an exploration into the different views, pros/cons, etc. I think it would be valuable as it would better enable me to engage these people who come to me with a sound Biblical position on the subject which of course can easily move to the gospel, since the subject of Revelation is Jesus as God after all…
Just a thought anyways.

I don’t know, maybe he’s on to something. The Pope just announced it was okay to believe in aliens, and this guy lives in Roswell.
Coincidence?
Key quote from link: “Warning…..Some of the sites carrying information about Planet X are promoting the New Age movement, Humanism, various cults, Occultism, etc. They are taking advantage of the coming of Planet X to promote their own deceptive agenda.”

LOL, how I missed that I have no idea. Well, glad you like it anyway, I figured you would.
