Facebook Love

Sometimes I wonder if Facebook is providing me with too much information. For instance, this message today:

I probably didn’t need to know that. I also didn’t need to read my name 4 times in one notice.
At the same time, the information Facebook parcels out can be really cool.
This last Saturday was my birthday and more people wished me “Happy Birthday” than ever. I got phone calls, emails, and in person greetings (including dozens of people at church I had never met in person). Then at the end of the day when checked my email, I realized what had happened.
Facebook had told everyone it was my birthday. In addition to the calls, emails, and in person greetings, I had at least 40 Facebook birthday greetings, including 3 in languages other than English.
How cool. I seriously felt very loved and connected.
Viva la Facebook.

that is the best thing about facebook, no more forgetting birthdays.
of course I saw on there that it was your birthday, so I figured I’d say happy birthday in person, but I totally forgot for the whole 2 minutes I saw you that day..
happy anniversary of 3 days after you were born!

I just want to comment that I didn’t need Facebook to tell me it was your birthday. I needed Emma (I can never remember if your birthday comes first or hers).

Facebook doesn’t sing you songs on your birthday, or talk about how old you’re getting, all of your gray hair, how your body because of your new-found old age is rejecting your piercings… No. No it can’t. But I can. I am facebook version 2.0 (Because facebook’s next version will do all of the above things I just mentioned)
