Pray for JR

My son came home from school today and said his friend Ethan had to leave school early and he didn’t know why. He thought it might have something to do with a car accident his dad had been in. I should also mention that his dad is JR, Riverview’s High School guy.

Well, I just read this on Wendy’s blog:

…JR, had an accident last night and somehow a pair of needle nose pliers ended up in his eye. They are on their way now to Ann Arbor so JR can have surgery on his eye. If he gets an infection in his eye, he could loose his sight. Please take a minute and pray for him.

Please take a minute and pray for JR.

[UPDATE: Apparently, the 8 year old version wasn't entirely accurate. It wasn't a car accident, but it was a needle nose pliers accident. You can check out Tricia's blog for updates. JR is having surgery tomorrow AM.]

Growing up in the Lansing area, I wanted nothing more than to get out. My exit strategy included a complex mixture of schemes for an urban church plant, iProducts, and an elaborate Bollywood car chase scene with zombies and catchy techno music.

As a 40 year old man, I find myself entrenched in the Lansing area at a church I love (Riverview), with 4 kids I love more (a high schooler, a junior higher, a middle schooler, and an elementary schooler), and a wife I love the most (Grace).

Instead of planting one church, I dream of helping hundreds get started without ever leaving my home base. I still love my iProducts and use them as tools to help lead and teach the thousands who attend Riverview. And when no one is looking, I blare the techno music and send my unimpressive resume to casting agents for Bollywood zombie films.
