Hey, I would love to hear how the evening went. Drop me a line sometime or something.

I read the book. It was decent, but I think there are people who are doing a better job articulating those issues–they are just less prominent unfortunately.

I believe the talk will be somewhat challenging for many Christians who tend to not think about some of the tough issues.

From what I can tell, Jim Wallis is pretty great. I’ve read his book, seen him interviewed quite a few times and have been a member of the weekly emails from Sojourners (his magazine and newsletter) for a couple years now. It’s solid and Biblical and political. I’ve talked to people who disagree with both his theology and his politics but I tend to agree with them both.

I like Jim Wallis -- I think there are a lot of things he gets right in terms of Christianity + politics. He's helped me not to feel so alone when I was surrounded by Christians who were not welcoming of my political views. :) I'm not sure where he's at on some faith issues that are important, though, given how he responded to one of Jon Stewart's questions about Jews and salvation when he was on the Daily Show. :( Interesting fact that I learned from someone who was there: Jim Wallis actually went to MSU back in the day. He was the communications secretary for the campus chapter of SDS.

I like that write up. He’s going to MSU and is a “leader and best”. This sounds like a University of Michigan plant.

I’m guessing just from the title that I would dislike it. But perhaps the title is just an attention grabber and he is in fact helping the campaign for the coming kingdom. Hmm, I just might check out his speaking/discussion thing…

Lots of politics, not much gospel.

He’s just mirror image of righties that use the scriptures to tell their congregations how to vote and who to demonize.
