Daily Jeezit

//MOOD: Decent

//NOISE: 80′s Music

I just updated the Jeezit, y’all. If you haven’t been checking it out, do so by clicking here.

This episode is in response to this letter:

[Someone I know] used to be a member at a small church. I attended services only twice so I don’t know a lot about the church but they seem to be very big on accountability, which might have been another word for control. [My friend] was thinking about leaving the church, I’m not sure why, but this idea was met with resistance from the pastor. His belief was that because he, as her pastor, will be accountable for her soul that it is only okay for her to leave if he feels it is the right thing to do as well as herself feeling that way. How far does his responsability extend? I don’t think if she refused to stay that he could be held accountable, but is it right in the eyes of of God that she only leave if both her and the pastor feel that it is what God wants and if he doesn’t feel that way she should be pressured to stay even if she doesn’t want to? It isn’t that [she] was refusing to go to church any more, it was just that she wanted to find a different one.

It is entirely possible that I’m wrong, but I don’t agree with the pastor’s philosophy. I tend to view church in more a utilitarian manner, that it is a tool to get a job done. I go to church so I can be spiritually recharged and to grow as a christian so I can (try to) spend the following week doing what God wants me to do. If I stop getting that from a church, then I don’t see what is wrong with finding a new tool, a new church, that will get the job done. What is the point of going to a church if it isn’t fulfilling my spiritual needs? So, I was just wondering what your thoughts were.

Here’s my thoughts:

City Love from the album “Any Given Thursday” by John Mayer

Thought I’d hit you with an update.

Kentucky was awesome. It was great getting to know Michael and just slowing life down for a few days. It’s so amazing to see what this little boarding school in Kentucky is up to. Kids from all over the world are there and several got saved during the week. Cool stuff.

While we were there, Grace and I sold our house. It worked out incredibly well because we sold it to friends. Now, we have to move and we have to move fast. There’s only one small problem. We don’t have a place to live. We need to find quick temporary housing fast. Any ideas?

Off to call around on apartments… Should be fun…6 people in an apartment.

Why Does My Heart Feel So Bad by Moby

So, Kenneth has posted a quote from a guy with an odd name on his site. The guy’s name is “Odd Nerdrum.”

I can top that.

When Dan and I were in Kentucky, we saw signs for a guy running for office. His name is “Audley Gay.”

Well, Dan and I are sitting in the airport ready to fly home from an awesome conference. I’ll fill you in later. For now, I just want to share some pictures we took with Michael’s iMac.
