Brawny Man

//MOOD: Glad to be home
//NOISE: Home

OK, so this is freakin hilarious.

Quote of the Day

“The cleaning crew is finally on the plane and i told them they only have two minutes because these people want to go home.”

4 Things

//MOOD: Hmmm.
//NOISE: Hmmm.

What do you think of these four statements, which a friend of mine proposed in a doctrinal conversation today:

1) God is completely sovereign over all things.
2) We are genuine moral agents, making choices have consequences and for which we are accountable.
3) The primary use of this doctrine is for pastoral comfort (ie – “Do not be afraid”).
4) Why divide on anything outside of this? If we can’t reconcile other issues, who cares?

I have talked a few times on the transparency issues pastors face. Here is an interesting perspective summarized like this:

Quote of the Day

//MOOD: Laughing
//NOISE: Jim Pace talking

I am in a meeting right now about the future of GCM. Then, I read this quote which seemed immensely appropriate:

“Look closely at the present you are constructing. It should look like the future you dream of.”

-Alice Walker

Hostile Takeover

//MOOD: Applrific
//NOISE: People talking

I am sitting in a circle with 21 pastors right now and there are 9 Macs, 4 Dells, and 1 Vaio.

Serving

//MOOD: Great
//NOISE: Chirp

This morning I met someone named Lindsey. She was being trained in how to do the visual presentation stuff for Riverview.

Very cool.

She started coming to Riverview 3 weeks ago. After she was around for two weeks, she decided to plug in and serve. She saw the announcement about needing help and decided to help.

Very very cool.

Memory Lane

//MOOD: Nostalgic
//NOISE: Kids watching “Little Bear”

I just had the biggest stroll down Memory Lane. My dad is cleaning out his basement and he found ten boxes labeled “Noel.” He decided to bring them over to my house to sort through. Amazing. Here are some of the more cool things I found:

* A Bible my parents bought for me after I became a Christian
* A long letter of reproof from my mom (well deserved, I may add)
* Lots of High School pictures
* A plaque of the first verse I ever memorized: Acts 4:12 (I got the plaque at VBS)
* A whip
* 5″ floppy disks
* Tons of books
* My high school yearbooks
* Dozens of cassettes, including Run DMC and Madonna

And my favorite thing:

* A box full of hundreds of pictures from my summer in Africa. I had thought these were lost forever. In fact, I was recently lamenting to my dad how much I wish I hadn’t lost them. It was so awesome to go through the pictures and relive the experiences.

Then it occured to me: that trip was 15 years ago! I am officially old.
