Yesterday I got to hang out with a pastor at another church in town. He used to be a Campus Crusade guy and now he is at a local church. We had a great time together comparing notes on doing ministry in this area and the various strengths and weaknesses of our churches. That led us to talking about church plants. That led me to state a sentence I am getting very familiar with:
“I am going to be here in Lansing for awhile.”
It’s kinda a weird sentence. For a long time Grace and I were all gung ho about going and planting a church somewhere. Now, we are excited about what is happening at Riverview. Add to that the unique dynamics of the church, and it looks like we are staying here. And that is something I am excited about. It’s interesting how things work out like that.
Riv is in a unique position to train and raise up tons of leaders and send them out to plant churches and support other ministries. This is something I can get behind in a big way. Even our pastors retreat this week set that up even more.
Then, I read Tricia’s blog and saw she had posted a very similar thought today. Weird. Good and weird.
