I found a place that is like a little slice of what the new earth will be like. Its a coffee shop where most of the patrons are using macs. There are windows users as well, and the mac use seem to love them anyway. Its a beautiful thing.

Voters’ Guide

Click here for a non-partisan Ingham County Voters’ Guide. I haven’t looked at it yet, but I remember it being helpful in the past in determining at least at a rudimentary level what each of the candidates in the different races stand for.

Christian Exodus

{ MOOD: Amused | ITUNES: “Run Fay Run” – Isaac Hayes }

Ever wish someone would succeed in something just to get them out of your hair? There is a group of Christians who want to take over South Carolina. I kinda want them to succeed. I basically figure if every Christian with the vision to make USAmerica a christian nation would all move to South Carolina, we could then slice the state off of the country and let it float into the Atlantic.

Apparently, these guys forgot that the last place this was tried was Holland. And from my trips to Amsterdam, I can tell you that creating a Christian nation there really worked:

Thanks to Sean for turning me onto this Jon Stewart interview on Crossfire. He makes some valid and hysterical points.

Yeah

{ MOOD: Mmmm | ITUNES: “Mmm Bop” – Hanson (No, I’m not kidding ) }

I just had a great meeting with Justin / JD, whatever you want to call him. This one was different. We were talking about him, and then he turned it around on me. We then spent a lot of time talking about what God is doing in my life.

I love having guys like JD in my life. He is challenging and honoring and truly an “Iron sharpens Iron” kind of guy. I also hate him because he doesn’t let me stick with trite answers to complex questions my life is raising.

Beaners and Emma

Emma and I are sitting in Beaners right now talking. She looks cute in her hat, eating a scone. Next, we are going to read for an hour or so. Fun times. Truly the highlight of the day!

After starting this book three months ago, I finally finished it. Great read. I very much recommend it. Although, as always (I am actually sick of this caveat…I think if anyone complains about a book I recommend I will refer them here) I don’t agree with everything, overall it is very very worth reading.

Here’s a quote that struck me today:

It’s easy to speak with a prophetic voice when you call the church out because her actions are clearly unbiblical. It is so much more nuanced and difficult to speak prophetically concerning methods that were, in fact, rooted in good, but have over time become disconnected from what they were intended to do.

At some point, though, the preservation of a particular tradition, methodology, or style can move beyond preference and take on an element of sin. This happens when we choose the practice over the principle. When the prophetic leader begins to expound the purpose of God, he begins to expose the heart motivation in God’s people.”
