Goodness.Just thought I'd see what you had to say on the issue, wasn't expecting the death penalty/abortion thing as well. Here's my two cents.. If God really created us perfectly and he truly knew us before we were a sparkle in our parent's eye... Why would he create someone to be homosexual, if it is condemned by Him? I just don't understand why in all honesty someone would choose that lifestyle, seeing how difficult it can be..thus.. said person must have been born with the homosexual desire from the beginning. My cousin actually had a pastor tell him that in order for him to continue attending "their" church, he had to confess his sins (being a homosexual) before the entire congregation and ask for their forgiveness as well as forgiveness from God. He's never stepped in a church since. It's the wonderful work of Church staff like that, that makes me want to whack them on the head and say "way to go buddy, you just lost another one"...

true. an unborn child cannot commit murder. that isn't the point. the death penalty = killing. no matter the situation or circumstance. plain and simple. it's just portrayed as "ok" since the person who is on death row usually has committed murder or some other violent act. but is death really the answer? what does it solve?

Spoke with a few friends for quite a while concerning "the dialoge," and some of the people involved. I cannot imagine the hurt that took place, and some things have become clearer to me through it, including my convictions.

As for the death penalty vs abortions, that seems pretty simple to me. I am no card carrying republican, but simple logic says an unborn child never committed murder.

"My goal needs to focus simply on the relationship and being the friend God has taught me to be through his example."

That is an amazing thought. Love is quiet but speaks much more clearly (and effectively) than arguments or debates on philosophies or interpretations of Scripture. Love is trust, and I'll listen to the opinions of those I trust. But first, the love.

Thanks for sharing this awesome dialogue (Aaron, too). I have went back and forth on the whole issue of tough love never understanding fully where I should stand as Christian on it. Seeing how it affected Aaron and the others that he shared about convicted me. The real issue for me seems to be how to stand firm in my convictions without feeling the need to shove them down people's throats. You guys have shown that it is possible to be clear on your convictions, agree to disagree, and still enjoy a great friendship. God is showing me more and more that this is what life is all about relationships. I think the key thing that I am learning is that even though God may have the goal of reaching others through me, that cannot be my goal. My goal needs to focus simply on the relationship and being the friend God has taught me to be through his example. If I focus on reaching people for Christ then I try to do his job and have a hard time loving people who do not want my way of life- people with convictions other than mine. Sorry for so many words that really seem to say just that I need to love people and let God do the rest, whatever that may be. Thanks again Noel and Aaron for making this more clear to me!!
