I just got back from

I just got back from a week at Kenyon College at the “Velocity” conference. We had a blast. This place reminded me of Harry Potter big time. Huge old buildings and all. In fact, in the place we ate, there were bats flying around inside one day! Anyway, I will get some pictures up very soon.

Right now, I am in Miami. I was home for about 3 hours before I had to take off again. Kite and I went to pick up our cheap ole rental car yesterday and they were out of them! So they had to give us a free upgrade to a convertible Mustang! Life is good.

So Grace was watching the

So Grace was watching the Dove Awards tonight while I was forced to watch it because I was too lazy to leave my comfy spot on the couch. The fact that Steven Curtis Chapman and Michael W Smith were nominated for artists of the year for the millionth time (with Smith winning) was bad enough. Then they had to perform “Friends” by MWS. I literally wanted to kick a hole in my TV…literally. If I didn’t have shows I am addicted to, I probably would have. Come on, Gospel Music Association! No wonder no one outside of your little nepitistic bunch takes you seriously. I know I am a music snob, but this was just ridiculous.

I will admit, I am

I will admit, I am no big fan of summer. I like Fall, then Spring, then Winter, then Summer. I get a lot of crap about this, so I thought I would give you a few reasons why summer sucks.

  • Sunburn (I’m Finnish, do I need to say more?)
  • Sweat. It’s just plain icky.
  • My black car. Really smart, Noel, really smart.
  • Humidity. Give me a sauna any day. Dry heat = tolerable. Wet heat = hell.
  • Prickly heat.

Alright. That’s enough. Now, though summer is horrible in a great many aspects, it is cool (nice word, eh?) in a few. I feel I should be fair and list these. But I won’t be fair. I’ll just list one: Motorcycles. I don’t have one (nor do I plan to…survival of my marriage, etc.), but I love seeing them around. Especially Harley’s. That’s a cool reason to love Riverview. We have quite a few bikers that come around. Here are a few bikes from last week. Note the silver one. Almost nothing on it is standard! Very cool. Even the grips are chrome. It even has Nitrous.

Well, I’m an uncle

Well, I’m an uncle again. My sister Heidi and her hubby Patrick just had their second girl. Here are the vitals:
Her name is SARENNA KATHERINE KELLEY.

This Christ study is getting

This Christ study is getting meaty because I am cruising through Hebrews right now. Here some more:

  • He is a priest forever in the line of Melchizedek.
  • He is the High Priest over all the good things that have come.
  • He has entered that great, perfect sanctuary in heaven.
  • He offered Himself to God as a perfect sacrifice for our sins.
  • He died to set all who are invited free from the penalty of the sins they had committed under the first covenant.
  • He has entered heaven to appear before God as our advocate.
  • He did not go into an earthly place of worship, because that is just a copy of the real Temple in heaven.
  • He died only once as a sacrifice to take away the sins of many people.
  • He will come again not to deal with our sins again, but to bring salvation to all those who are eagerly waiting for Him.
  • We are made holy by the sacrifice of His body once and for all.
  • He is the same yesterday, today, and forever.

I have been very negligent

I have been very negligent at posting here. Everyday, I think about it, but my schedule has been insane. Anyhoo, here are the latest things I read about Christ today…

  • He can give us grace, mercy, and peace.
  • We can live in the faith and love we have in Him.
  • He was a man born into King David’s family.
  • He was raised from the dead.
  • Salvation comes by trusting in Him.
  • When He appears to set up His Kingdom, He will judge the living and the dead.
  • We should work to bring others to Him.
  • Because of what He did, God generously poured out the Spirit on us.
  • He is in charge of God’s entire household (we are the household).
  • If we are faithful to the end, we will share in all that belongs to Him.
  • He did not exalt Himself to become the High Priest, He was chosen by God.
