Here’s the pic of the house we are staying in:

Today we had a great time. These guys are stretching me. That’s all I have to say for now.

So I am chilling in

So I am chilling in this giant victorian house in Elburn, IL (just west of Chicago). It’s pretty cool. I will get some pics up later. We are doing the next installment of our Sonlife Training. This one is a tad smaller. In fact, just the 4 of us GCM types. Hopefully, this means we can crank through it and get done early.

Oh, and I hung out last night and tonight with my niece Ahna (and her parents, whatever their names are). She cried when I left tonight, thank you very much. Here she is, slightly happier:

So we go to “Small

So we go to “Small Animal Day” yesterday and there’s something I don’t get.

Horses? Not just horse, but big huge horses. On “Small Animal Day?” Oh well. Click here for pics.

Just got done with

Just got done with a study of Habakkuk. Very interesting. If you have a minute, read the 3rd Chapter of Habakkuk and compare it with Job 42.

It was cool to see how these two guys had the guts to question God when they didn’t understand what he was up to. Then, God gets in their face a bit and reminds them that he is all powerful. These two chapters are the men’s responses. As my friend Sean “Firehead” White C.N.A. has said, “It’s OK to be mad at God. It’s not OK to stay mad at Him.”

Um…

Um…

It has been awhile since

It has been awhile since I have been involved in my “Christ” study. Here are the new things I discovered about Christ this morning:

  • When we bless the cup and break the loaf, we share in His blood and body.
  • He died for our sins.
  • If He had not been raised from the dead, our preaching would be useless.
  • If He had not been raised from the dead, our trust in God would be useless.
  • If He had not been raised from the dead, we would still be under condemnation for our sins.
  • If our hope in Him is just for this life, we are the most miserable people in the world.
  • God’s plan from all eternity was carried out through Him.
  • Because of Him and our faith in Him, we can come fearlessly into God’s presence.
  • His love is so great we will never fully understand it.
  • He came down to the lowly world in which we live.
  • When we hold to the truth in love, we become more and more like Him in every way.
  • God has forgiven us through Him.
  • He gave Himself as a sacrifice to take away our sins.
  • When He was sacrificed, it was like a sweet perfume to God.

When I survey the

When I survey the wondrous cross
On which the Prince of Glory died
My richest gain I count but loss
And pour contempt on all my pride

See from his head, his hands, his feet
Sorrow and love flow mingled down
Did ever such love and sorrow meet
Or thorns compose so rich a crown

O the wonderful cross, O the wonderful cross
Bids me come and die and find that I may truly live
O the wonderful cross, O the wonderful cross
All who gather here by grace draw near and bless
Your name

Were the whole realm of nature mine
That were an offering far too small
Love so amazing, so divine
Demands my soul, my life, my all

The kids joined in

The kids joined in the pagan ritual of getting chocolate from a guy in a bunny suit today. Hopefully, with that out of the way, we can focus on something slightly less superficial tomorrow.

For any of you

For any of you who have been on this “Evanescence is a Christian Band” kick, you have to read this article: RollingStone.com: News: Evanescence Fall From Grace I think they are one of the coolest bands out there right now (Check out their video!) and quite frankly, this news is refreshing.

My friends Dave, Will,

My friends Dave, Will, Brad, and Bill bought me a bike! I’m not kidding. It is so awesome. I went to get it today and they had the wrong size so I have to wait until Thursday to pick it up. Dave and Bill took me riding today and they kicked my butt. I have never been so whipped! Oh, this is the bike:

Well, I take off today for the great state of Iowa. Yippee! I am heading to cornland to teach at a teen conference in Ames. If you think of it, pray for me. If you don’t, well, don’t. I will try to update the site from there, but you know how that stuff goes.

Mad props to Alex for

Mad props to Alex for sending me this awesome video in response to my house being covered in a blanket of snow.
